Diagnostic Agro-Socioéconomique et Environnemental de la commune de Saint-Marc : Cas de la 3eme Section Goyavier, 2021- 2023.

Abstract

The agricultural diagnosis provides detailed and up-to-date knowledge of the situation of agricultural, social and environmental activity in the territory. It helps guide the decision-making of elected officials for the development of development plans. Indeed, in relation to the various agronomic, socio-economic and environmental problems of the 3rd municipal section of Saint-Marc (Goyavier), to what extent can the Agro-Socioeconomic and Environmental Diagnostic highlight the agricultural production capacity of Goyavier? Therefore, the main objective of this study is to present the Agro-Socioeconomic and Environmental Diagnostic as an analysis and decision-making tool to facilitate the development of the productive capacity of Guava. Note that this study was carried out through surveys (Focus-groups and Individual surveys), transects and observations of farming plots. The results showed, firstly, that the third Guava section, through the diversity of its agricultural production (fruits, vegetables, cereal crops, legumes, food crops, etc.), is one of the main sources of food for residents of the town of Saint-Marc and surrounding areas, almost all year round. On a socio-economic level, they highlight the socio-educational and health situation of the section. In addition, at the economic level, farmers realize an average profit in gourdes of (129979.8; 134298.1; 141198.1) for the three years covering the study, on a sample of 52 people working one hectare. Secondly, they make it possible to show that Goyavier serves as a watershed for several sources and rivers for the three main sections (2nd, 4th, 6th) and other surrounding areas, and the threats that will prevail in Goyavier and the city center following the continued deforestation of hills and hills, and soil erosion. These threats will not be without consequences on the flow rates of these sources and rivers, and the risks of flooding that they may cause during heavy rainfall. Thirdly, they make it possible to highlight a set of potentialities of the third section Guava tree. Therefore, it is recommended to support the farmers of Goyavier by providing them with at least one store of agricultural inputs and veterinary products, to rehabilitate the main road, to come there with soil and water conservation projects. , etc
